Your first driving lesson can feel like a big step. You may be thinking about the clutch, busy junctions or what happens if you make a mistake. You do not need to master everything before you get in the car. Your lessons are where you learn.

I’m Elvis Begic, a driving instructor in Maastricht. My approach is calm and personal: explain clearly, practise step by step and focus on what each learner needs next.

Tell me what feels difficult

Have you never driven before? Did you take lessons elsewhere? Do busy roads make you tense, or do you find instructions harder to follow in Dutch? Tell me at the start. That conversation helps us choose a useful starting point.

You can ask questions during your lessons. If an explanation is unclear, we can go over it again. Understanding what you are doing matters more than pretending you already know.

A clear goal for each lesson

Learning to drive involves several skills at once. Breaking them down makes it easier to understand your progress. Depending on your experience, a lesson might focus on car control, observation, junctions or making decisions independently.

After practising, we discuss what went well and what still needs attention. That gives your next lesson a direction without turning every mistake into a setback.

English or Dutch: choose the language that helps you learn

I teach in English and Dutch. If you are an expat or international student in Maastricht, English explanations can help you concentrate on the driving itself while getting used to Dutch traffic situations.

The goal stays the same in either language: understanding the situation, recognising what matters and making safe decisions.

Learn in a familiar manual car

You take your lessons with me in a manual Volkswagen Golf. Becoming familiar with the car’s controls lets you gradually put more attention into the traffic around you.

You do not need to choose a package based only on somebody else’s experience. A trial lesson gives us a chance to meet, see your starting point and discuss a suitable plan.

Practical preparation for your first lesson

I teach in Maastricht and nearby areas including Meerssen, Bunde, Berg en Terblijt, Cadier en Keer, Gronsveld and Valkenburg. Send your location when you get in touch so we can discuss a practical starting point.

Your next step

Compare the lesson prices on this website, or send me a WhatsApp message to discuss a trial lesson. For theory practice in English and Dutch, you can also use my free ViaTheoria platform. We start with where you are now and work forward from there.
