When you choose a driving instructor, the way you are taught matters as much as the car you drive. You may understand an explanation straight away but need several attempts to put it into practice. You may feel comfortable on a quiet street and suddenly tense at a busy junction. That gives us something useful to work on.

I’m Elvis Begic, your instructor at Rijschool in Maastricht. I give manual driving lessons in English and Dutch. My approach is to explain what we are practising, give you time to try it and discuss the next step clearly.

Patience means useful feedback

A stalled engine or an awkward parking attempt does not tell the whole story of your progress. We look at what happened. Did you release the clutch too quickly? Was your attention divided? Did the explanation move too fast?

A clear answer helps more than simply repeating “try again”. Where it is safe and practical, we break the skill into smaller steps and practise it again. The aim is for you to understand the action, rather than depend on me telling you every move.

If the first lesson feels daunting, read my tips for starting driving lessons calmly in Maastricht.

Lessons that reflect your starting point

Some learners have never sat behind the wheel. Others come to me after lessons elsewhere or need to rebuild confidence. We discuss your experience and decide what needs attention first.

You learn in my manual Volkswagen Golf. Early practice might focus on moving off and stopping smoothly. Later, we combine car control with looking ahead, choosing a suitable position and making decisions in traffic. We return to a skill when you need more practice.

I also offer 90-minute lessons. That allows time to practise, discuss what you noticed and repeat an exercise during the same session. Check the current driving lesson prices and packages for the available options and ask me which lesson length suits your situation.

English explanations for international learners

Moving to Maastricht can mean getting used to a different language and unfamiliar roads at the same time. Lessons in English allow us to discuss your decisions in a language you feel comfortable using. Dutch lessons are available too.

Ask when a term or instruction is unclear. We can connect the explanation to the traffic situation in front of you. Understanding why you choose a position or adjust your speed helps you use that skill on another road as well.

Practise real traffic situations around Maastricht

We work with the roads and situations that suit your learning stage: residential streets, roundabouts, junctions and busier routes. The goal is to read the traffic yourself as your skills develop.

I teach in Maastricht and the surrounding area, including Meerssen, Bunde, Gronsveld and Cadier en Keer. Tell me where you live when you contact me about lessons, so we can discuss a practical starting point and availability.

Make your theory useful during lessons

Theory and practical driving support each other. After a lesson, look again at a sign or traffic situation you found difficult. Bring questions to the next lesson so we can discuss how the rule applies on the road.

For additional study, you can use my free NL/EN theory platform, ViaTheoria. Practising theory alongside your lessons helps you recognise situations instead of only memorising answers.

What to ask before you book

A patient approach does not promise a particular number of lessons or a first-time pass. It gives us a clear way to work towards safer, more independent driving. You can ask questions, practise difficult skills and understand what still needs attention.
